Greenmount Primary School

~:: Headteachers Newsletter ::~

It's great to be back! Thank you so much to all staff, children and families for making me feel so welcome during my first two weeks back at Greenmount. It really is a privilege and a pleasure to be here as Headteacher leading such an amazing learning community. For those of you who don't know, I started out my teaching career here in 2001. I know some of you do remember me and for those who don't it will be great to get to know you all.

During our staff training sessions last week we talked about what makes Greenmount the special place it is. Common words that came out were "diverse, caring, welcoming, determined, respectful, hardworking, clean, happy and friendly". We also talked about our vision for school and what we want for our children and community. We also talked about the most important values we want to drive our school forward with. Tolerance, perseverance, resilience, creativity and independence seemed to be the ones we felt most prominent. I will be talking with the children and you as families about what you feel our vision and values should reflect over the coming weeks. I will be running some "Meet Miss Carr" coffee mornings and afternoons where you can come in and talk to me over a cup of tea and a biscuit. Please do try and come along to one of these sessions.

We will be updating and refreshing our website and logo over the next few months so please do keep looking at the changes and share your ideas with us.

All of our children both old and new have made a great start to the new term. Thank you for helping them to look so smart in their uniforms and shoes. I am proud of the way they have settled into their classes and are busy learning lots of new things. We love it when children complete homework and when you listen to them read and talk to them so please keep this up. We will be offering curriculum meetings very soon so we can give you some top tips!

Thank you once again for making me feel so welcome and also to our wonderful staff who came in during the holidays to prepare classrooms ready for children.

Looking forward to a great year ahead. I am always willing to see you if you need to talk to me about something and if I am busy you can make an appointment at the office. Our three Assistant Headteachers; Mrs Dixon, Mrs McGuire and Miss Perry are also able to talk to you and can help with any issues, questions or concerns. Please do speak to one of us if you need to.
